An ongoing duo series for tenor saxophone and piano — spiritual free jazz built on improvisation and a strong melodic core.
A cry rendered as duet: tenor sax and piano in raw, rhythmic dialogue between turbulence and tenderness, recorded during wartime. First single from Keeping the Fire, Eyal Netzer's ongoing duo series with pianist Milton Michaeli. Spiritual free jazz built on improvisation and a strong melodic core — intense, unresolved, alive.
Keeping the Fire is the second full-length album from the Eyal Netzer / Milton Michaeli duo, due November 2026, following 2023's Shine. Recorded for tenor saxophone and piano, it continues the duo's approach — strong melodic writing paired with open improvisation — but pushes further into intensity and rhythmic drive, shaped in part by the wartime conditions the sessions were recorded under. Singles will roll out ahead of the album; this page will be updated as each one lands.
Eyal Netzer (tenor saxophone and winds) and Milton Michaeli (piano) have been developing their duo since releasing Shine in 2023 — a body of work built on deep listening, improvisation, and a shared instinct for melody inside open structures.
Keeping the Fire, out November 2026, continues that dialogue, recorded against the backdrop of wartime and shaped by it: turbulence and tenderness held in the same breath.
